  • GENTLE HANDLING OF FISH:

The crew of the Pacific Queen takes great pride in the proper handling of your fish. Your fish will be spiked, bled and quickly placed into one of our RSW (refrigerated sea water) fish holds. As a passenger on the Pacific Queen, you will be given the option of having your catch processed onboard. The cost of this service varies by the size of the fish and is not included in your ticket price. You will notice that when the crew of the Pacific Queen places your fish into dock-side fish carts, the fish will never be thrown or handled roughly, thus preventing bruising of the meat. From the time your fish comes over the rail to the time it reaches the dock, it is handled with the utmost care.

    TYPES OF TRIPS:

  • Summer trips:

The Pacific Queen operates anywhere from 1-day overnight trips to 3-day trips out of Fisherman?s Landing in San Diego. These trips take advantage of the world-class tuna fishing that is found in the offshore waters of the Baja coast. Albacore, bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna, yellowtail and dorado are the gamefish that are found in these waters. Depending on the type of year we are having, we may encounter incredible fishing for albacore and bluefin tuna. During warmer water years, we might see excellent fishing for yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna and dorado. The offshore waters of the Baja coast consistently produce outstanding tuna fishing and the trips we have scheduled take advantage of this.

One day overnight trips generally depart at 10:00 p.m., fish most of the next day, and return that evening at about 8:00 p.m. Our day and a half trips depart the evening before, fish the entire day, from sun up to sun down, and return the following morning. These are some of our most popular trips with good reason. They are probably the best value for the angler and offer almost double the amount of fishing time compared to a one day trip. Our two and three day trips have been nothing short of spectacular during recent years. I scheduled these trips during the height of the offshore tuna season from July through September.

Most of our 2-3 day trips, as well as select 1.5 day trips, are what we call sponsored trips. These trips are sponsored by a tackle company who sends a representative on the trip to represent that company. What this means to the angler is that a rep. will be on board to offer help to those that would like it, provide information on the product they are representing, and give away raffle prizes at the end of the trip. Our current sponsors are : Fishworks clothing, Accurate reels, Calstar rods, Braid Products, Izorline and Fisherman?s Hardware, Long Beach. These trips book quickly so don?t miss your chance to fish with some of the most respected names in the industry.

  • Ultra-limited 5-day Guadalupe Island trips:

During the months of October and November, we operate a select number of 5-day trips to Guadalupe Island. These trips are limited to only 15 anglers which offers a unique opportunity to experience Guadalupe Island with a small group. The fish we target on these trips are yellowfin tuna to 100 pounds and yellowtail. Typically we are anchored close to the island in the lee while fishing here, which makes for an awesome experience. These trips are very special to our customers and are becoming increasingly popular. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for a shorter style long-range trip.

  • Winter trips:

During the months of January through April, we operate 2- and 2.75-day trips to Colnett and San Martin Island. These trips tap some of the exceptional bottom fishing that the Baja coast has to offer. Quality reds and lingcod are the staples of these trips. There is also a good chance of catching yellowtail and other gamefish depending on conditions.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE:
  • Onboard seminars are conducted before each trip to acquaint everyone with the vessel and to give everyone an idea of what to expect during the next day?s fishing.
